Pluck 0.1.6 fixes Empty Trash on Mac

The Mac beta now empties recognized Trash locations directly with Full Disk Access instead of depending on Finder Automation. This is a Mac-only fix; Windows stays on 0.1.3.

Pluck 0.1.6 was built and publicly released September 29, 2026 as a Mac-only fix for the Empty Trash action. This entry is posted September 30. The 0.1.6 Apple Silicon installer is linked from Pluck’s Good Tools page; Windows remains at version 0.1.3.

Empty Trash without Finder Automation

The Mac cleanup engine now works directly with the current user’s home Trash and writable mounted-volume Trash locations. It no longer depends on a Finder Automation command, which could fail even when Pluck had Full Disk Access.

The operation confines itself to recognized Trash roots. If a protected item there blocks removal, it can ask for administrator approval; it then verifies the removal before reporting success.

Included Mac improvements

Version 0.1.6 also includes the 0.1.5 Mac app-icon correction and the protected-app uninstall path. When a protected app in Applications needs approval, Pluck explains the prompt, moves it to Trash, and checks that the move completed instead of reporting success early.

These are Mac changes. The Windows installer continues at 0.1.3, which has its own Recycle Bin action and was not rebuilt for this Mac fix.

What was checked

The local cleanup engine was smoke-tested with ordinary, hidden, and nested temporary files in a test Trash location. The public GitHub 0.1.6 release contains the Mac installer. The build remains a beta and is not Apple-notarized.
