First-time install

Your computer may ask before opening a Good Tools app.

Some of our beta installers are not signed yet, so macOS or Windows may show a security warning. Only continue when you downloaded the installer from GoodTools.ca or our official MadeByGoodTools GitHub account.

Choose your system

A one-time extra step.

Follow the instructions for your computer. You do not need to turn off its security protections.

On Mac

  1. Try to open the downloaded installer once.
  2. Open System Settings →︎ Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll to Security, choose Open Anyway, then confirm.

On Windows

  1. Open the downloaded installer.
  2. If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen appears, choose More info.
  3. Confirm that it is the Good Tools installer, then choose Run anyway.
About Windows app protection

Stop if the warning says the file is damaged or malicious. That is different from an “unknown publisher” warning. Download a fresh copy from GoodTools.ca or email hello@goodtools.ca.
