LibreLux’s October 19, 2026 web deployment contains a substantial editing and reliability pass. This October 21 article explains the verified changes: fine controls now affect image processing, small-screen controls fit better, and preview and export work share more consistent processing paths.
Fine controls that change the image
Sharpening radius and masking, noise detail and contrast, color-noise detail and smoothing, grading blending, vignette highlight protection, and defringe are connected to real pixel processing. The update also adds texture processing and tonal-grading balance.
Shared detail kernels retain floating-point RAW data instead of routing it through an 8-bit preview. Effect layers are composited before the shared fine-processing pass, so an opaque look no longer hides the visible effect of global detail and grading controls. Tests for the formerly inactive dials check both preview pixels and the downloaded PNG, rather than just a changed slider value.
More responsive previews and more consistent exports
Fit previews use a worker and a bounded 960-pixel proxy. Rapid intermediate edits are coalesced, and stale results are discarded. Desktop 100% inspection uses native source resolution when the existing full-resolution policy allows it; a worker failure falls back to the same processing kernel on the main thread with yielding tiles.
Original-resolution raster export works in overlapping tiles, with regression tests comparing tiled and untiled output including boundaries. Geometry aspect and volume deformation are applied to raster exports and matching native RAW and mask geometry. The export callback no longer treats a mouse-click event as an image-format override, and WebKit starts the image download before its metadata sidecar.
Smaller screens, resets, and leaving the app
Export dialogs are bounded by the viewport and scroll internally. Scale resets to 100% within its supported range, and previously saved invalid zero-scale values recover when reopening. The mobile regression suite covers touch editing, numeric values, reset, undo, persistence, crop, presets, and library deletion.
Preview-worker startup and Smart Mask model loading stop when navigating away. Model-download requests carry cancellation through their response streams, reducing work left running after WebKit detaches a page. Returning through the browser back/forward cache resumes preview processing.
Live status and testing limits
The reviewed local source commit matches hosted version 28, whose deployment succeeded October 19 at 17:59 UTC, or 11:59 AM in Saskatchewan. This is a live browser-app update, not an unreleased desktop package.
The recorded QA covers Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit engines plus phone/tablet emulation, and includes an actual Smart Object model-inference smoke test. Emulation is not physical iPhone, Android, or Windows-device testing. These checks do not establish Lightroom or DxO processing parity or replace an independent professional-editor beta.
