GifGrab 0.3.8 keeps difficult collections moving

The desktop release improves collection counts, organizes originals and conversions, and prevents one stalled GIF conversion from blocking the rest of the queue.

AvailabilityVersion 0.3.8 is public on GitHub.

GifGrab 0.3.8 was publicly released September 23, 2026. This release rounds out a series of collection and conversion improvements in versions 0.3.5 through 0.3.8.

01

A queue that can continue

A conversion with no output for three minutes, or one that takes 20 minutes in total, is marked failed instead of holding up every later item. The failed item can be retried.

The release also distinguishes the actual animation count from GIF card previews, including previews produced by older collectors. That makes the displayed total closer to what the user is really collecting.

02

Clearer files and progress

Earlier releases in this series put each collection in a timestamped folder with separate Originals and GIFs directories. Progress now distinguishes selected, queued, saved, converted, failed, and duplicate items.

The collector avoids duplicate page previews, and a rescan can pick up items seen in an earlier scan. Serial conversions reduce memory pressure. If a chosen save folder disappears, queued downloads pause until another folder is selected.
