Asterion 0.1.1 opens a fuller Mac utility beta

Asterion’s public Apple Silicon beta adds folder and archive browsing, Finder Quick Look, and refinements to its mirrored Dock and settings. The 0.1.1 installer and corresponding source were released October 14.

AvailabilityPublic GitHub 0.1.1 prerelease for Apple Silicon Macs; tested locally on macOS 27.2.

Asterion 0.1.1 was built and publicly released on October 14, 2026 in Saskatchewan. This October 16 note covers both the new Mac utility beta and its 0.1.1 refinements while keeping a single major entry on the update calendar. The public release is a prerelease, not a finished or notarized Mac app.

01

A utility workspace for Mac

Asterion brings together notes, screen capture, window management, clipboard history, and other desktop tools in one menu-bar suite. People can choose which features to enable. Version 0.1.1 adds folder and archive browsing with thumbnails, search, and sorting, plus a Finder Quick Look extension for previews.

The product page shows the current beta and links to the official installer. It is designed for Apple Silicon and was tested locally on macOS 27.2; that does not establish compatibility across every Mac or capture and multi-display setup.

02

Settings and mirrored Dock refinements

The 0.1.1 build uses consistent neutral dark-grey settings surfaces and fixes Batch Rename controls that were cut off in the settings pane.

The mirrored Dock has tighter spacing after Trash. It follows Asterion’s shared Liquid Glass option and macOS Reduce Transparency setting, with clearer glass and a softer border. The mirror approximates Apple’s Dock: private styling, badges, folder stacks, and animations are not identical.

03

Release, source, and installation boundaries

The local 0.1.1 installer package has the same SHA-256 digest as the asset on the official MadeByGoodTools GitHub prerelease. That release also includes the corresponding modified source archive. The public release was posted October 14 at 23:33 UTC, which was October 14 in Saskatchewan.

Asterion is a modified GPL-3.0-or-later fork of Vorssaint Utils 3.4.1, not an official Vorssaint build. The source archive includes notices, build scripts, and MIT-licensed AeroSpace source. The installer is unsigned, the app is signed with a local identity but not Apple-notarized, and self-updates and upstream hosted services remain disabled.
