RARity enters public beta

The first public preview arrived with a Windows installer and an Apple-silicon macOS beta package. Both downloads were clearly marked as unsigned beta software.

AvailabilityPublic unsigned beta for Apple-silicon Macs and 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.

RARity entered public beta as an original Good Tools archive utility built on the proven open-source PeaZip foundation, with simpler presentation around a deep set of archive tools.

01

Archive support

RARity can open, inspect, test, and extract ZIP, RAR, 7z, TAR, ISO, CAB, split archives, packages, and more than 200 related archive formats. It can also create ZIP archives, convert supported archives, and split or join files.

Common actions such as Compress to ZIP, Extract Here, and Extract to Folder are intended to remain close at hand, while advanced tools stay available for people who need them.

02

RAR licensing boundary

RAR extraction is supported through permitted archive backends. Creating RAR archives is different: it requires a separately installed and licensed RarLab Rar.exe backend.

RARity does not bundle, recreate, or reverse-engineer that proprietary component. Without the licensed backend, people can still create formats such as ZIP and use RARity to open and extract RAR files.

03

First beta packages

The first public preview included a Windows installer produced through Windows build automation and an Apple-silicon macOS beta package. The product page keeps both platform choices separate and plainly labeled.
