Nicely 1.0.2 notices when the day begins

Nicely now checks the first meaningful browser activity of each local day, making its once-daily note more dependable when Chromium keeps running after every window is closed.

AvailabilityVersion 1.0.2 packages are available from GitHub for Chromium and Firefox. The Firefox Add-ons listing may update on its own review schedule.

Nicely 1.0.2 makes its small daily promise more dependable. Instead of relying only on a full browser startup or a newly opened window, it now recognizes the first meaningful browser activity of a new local calendar day.

01

Why the check changed

Chromium-based browsers can keep background processes alive after their last window closes. In that state, opening the browser the next day may not produce the clean startup event an extension expects, so a once-daily experience can be skipped.

Nicely now treats actual browser use—not merely a process launch—as the start of the browsing day.

02

More reliable daily activity signals

The daily note check runs when the browser starts, when a normal window is created or focused, and when a tab is created or activated. These lightweight signals cover both a fresh launch and a browser that quietly remained alive overnight.

The existing queue and local calendar-day lock still coordinate those signals. If several fire together, Nicely opens one note rather than several copies.

03

Still quiet after the first note

Once Nicely records that day locally, the added activity listeners do not keep interrupting the user. They simply confirm that the daily moment has already happened and leave the rest of the browsing day alone.

Saved notes and the last-opened date remain in browser-local storage. Nicely still has no account, advertising, analytics, tracking, remote code, or external data collection.

Available packages

Version 1.0.2 is published on GitHub with separate packages for Chromium-based browsers and Firefox. The Chromium package can be installed manually in Chrome, Edge, or Opera, while Firefox users can use the Firefox package or the store listing as it moves through its own update schedule.
